Week 1 - Defining The Project
Dream: create intuitive and profound communal interactive experiences for domestic environments that can be engaged with everyday for a long time - multiple generations. This experience would induce states of presence, openness, compassion, awareness and calm.
Vision: A luxurious domestic interactive table top or center table device that algorithmically generates relaxing ambient sounds. The device is an augmented Zen Garden and the sounds are produced both by physical particles being agitated and speakers.
The parameters of the algorithm that produces sound is modulated by the sculpting of the sand of the Zen garden. The table top device also connects to handheld objects that may have pulse sensors, force sensors and microphones that allow each of the individuals interacting with the device to have shorter term interaction with the sound.
In the center of the surface of the device there is a pool in which small stones are moved by a motor producing a soothing acoustic sound that can change in intensity over time.
Goal - A functional prototype for the device that will be done using a raspberry pi running Csound and arduino , printed with a Cnc, maybe using light or infrared sensors to measure the high of the sand on a single spot, using a motor to move the rocks in the center, and creating the soft handheld objects with vibration motors and sensors that will be wired to the main device.
Plan -
First three weeks - ideating, sketching, defining target public, defining materials, defining building strategies and building sound algorithm.
Week 4- 6 - Starting to build main structure and handheld devices, testing the stone ambient generator, buying sand, wood, parts, and starting to develop the system to get data from the sand sculpting. Finishing the sound algorithm.
Week 6-10 - Integrating physical device and algorithm and giving finishing to the device.
Past Project - Hourly Pulses
Realtime sound design on the web to allow for an dynamic sound sculpturing system.
Cookies not working in the i-frame. Go to https://peusodre.github.io/HourlyPulses/ to be able to save your pulses and play then back.
Use the selector to pick a sound and save to a specific time. Do it a couple times and then play the piece of your day.
Past Project - Breathe Box: Making Relaxed Breathing Accessible
Guided Breathing Through Haptic Feedback + Wearable Breathing Sensor
An haptics based handheld device that can fit in your pocked and allow the user to pick from different modes of guided breathing.
The user can also get breathing feedback with the device (additional sensor input).
